35mm Mystery Thrift

Posted by websitesarelovely on Wednesday 11 July 2012

I bought a Canon A1 camera from a charity shop at the weekend, and there was an exposed 35mm film in the case - so I couldn't resist getting it developed.

Incredibly bad picture quality and all contrast is gone. I wonder why this wasn't important for the owner. Maybe he died during the safari.

The fact that this was bought and then processed makes it even more beautiful, rather than throwing it away and thinking nothing of it! These images have such a natural contrast as opposed to a structured shot! Perfect, and thanks for showcasing this to us.

I agree with codec, I like the natural, unconstructed look that you just don't see so much with digital photography. A real '70s, Born Free feel to them.

Kudos for getting the film developed!

Now THAT'S a found film. Beats my found porn hands down (trust me) the look is certain,y that is an underexposed film, but still fabulous. :-)

Love it! How fabulous that you got it developed! Who cares about the picture quality: what a story!

Quite a treasures find. Given that the film was exposed and probably past best by date, I think you did well to get any images out of it. The faded effect gives it an added nostalgic quality. Makes me wonder about the people the in the pictures, who they were, their types of life, whether they're still alive etc. Wonderful opportunity. Thanks for sharing.
